Magdalena Bay, Located on the western coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico, is famous for its diverse marine life, including whales, fish, and birds. The bay is particularly renowned for gray whale watching tours from January to March, where visitors can observe the whales up close along with other wildlife such as dolphins, sea lions, and pelicans. The bay’s secluded beaches are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking, surrounded by mangrove swamps and sand dunes that house an array of plants and wildlife.
Puerto Chale is a quiet fishing community on the shores of the Pacific Ocean and the closest place to La Paz for spotting gray whales.
This community is still under development for tourism, so it remains a tranquil haven far from the hustle and bustle. Fishing drives its economy, and there are several small restaurants where you can sample the catch of the day or buy fresh seafood to take home and prepare yourself.
